What is a Baccalaureate Service? Customs dictates that there are two graduation ceremonies—Baccalaureate and Commencement. The Baccalaureate service is religious and is held annually on the day before Commencement. It is an occasion for delivering a farewell sermon to the senior class whose members are prepared and qualified to enter the world of undergraduate or technical school, as well as the world of work. The Baccalaureate service is a reminder that this world is spiritual and secular and that religion and faith play critical roles in adding meaning and depth to the human experience.
Where and Time of the Baccalaureate Service? Class of 2024 Baccalaureate Service will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 11:00 am. All Seniors must arrive by 10:00 am.
What do I wear to the Baccalaureate Service? You will wear Full Regalia for the service. Cap n Gown with stoles and cords. This will be the first time you will be seen in this manner before graduation, a very important moment for the parents.
