Cash prize for scholars Mr. & Miss Juneteenth Essay/Poem Contest

The City of Morrow is excited to announce their upcoming Mr. & Miss Juneteenth Essay/Poem Contest, and they would love to have middle and high school students from Clayton County Public Schools to participate. The winners of the contest will split the $1000.00 cash prize. Each winner will receive $500.00 each and be named Mr. & Miss Juneteenth Morrow.  A panel of three judges will select the best compositions to be recognized at the event.

The contest subject is, "What does Juneteenth mean to you?" or "Someone who inspired you?". Students are invited to submit a written creative essay or poem on one of these topics.  Please submit the printed essays to Diana Womack at the Morrow Center on May 20, 2024.  Applicants must be available to read their essay or poem in person at the Morrow Juneteenth Celebration on Saturday, June 8th, 2024, starting at 5pm.

We believe this is a wonderful opportunity for students to reflect on the significance of Juneteenth and honor those who have inspired them and paved the way.

If you have any further questions please contact Morrow Center General Manager, Ms. Diana Womack at dwomack@morrowga.gov.
