Alcorn State University was founded in 1871 in Lorman, Mississippi, and is the oldest, public historically black land-grant institution in the United States. Money Magazine has ranked Alcorn as one of “The Best Colleges in America, Ranked by Value” and U.S. News and World Reports has ranked Alcorn among the best Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the country. For over 150 years, Alcorn’s rich heritage and tradition of excellence have been the roadmap for our alumni to continue to distinguish themselves in medicine, law, education, business, entertainment, and professional sports. In addition, Alcorn’s tuition and fees are among the lowest in the region, and students do not pay out-of-state fees.
